Molly II Download

Below is the current release of Molly II. We strongly recommend that you download the latest release, unless you are actively developing Molly code and need to compare with previous versions.

Note: m2r9 was an internal release, and is not available.
Upload the archive to your unix/linux server, then unzip it:
gunzip m2r10.tar.gz

After unzipping the file you will have a Tape Archive (tar) file that you will need to untar:
tar -xf m2r10.tar

Molly version m2r10 comes with an automated installer. Run it from the command line:
php install.php

Security Warning:

Molly is distributed using a single directory structure to facilitate installation. While it is fine to leave Molly's directory structure as you find it for convenience of development on your local machine, it is very important that you relocate the system directory, or at the very least the molly.ini file, such that it is not in a directory served to the web. The molly.ini file contains usernames and passwords and making these visible to the web is an extreme security risk. Paths to the system directory and molly.ini file are set in the .htaccess file in the root directory of the installation. The Molly installer will move these files and configure the .htaccess file for you.

Upgrading from m2r8:

Make a backup copy of your molly.ini file, your .htaccess file, and your local directory and its contents. Install m2r8 as detailed above, then edit the molly.ini and .htaccess files. There have been some changes to the organization of code and modules since m2r8. In addition, we have changed the design and layout of the Molly site (which releases are based on) so if you based your page designs on ours you may need to adjust your layout or template files accordingly.

Starting with this m2r10 all of the database table names begin with "molly_" - you may need to rename some of your existing tables to adapt to this change.

Replace Molly's default local/ directory files with the ones you saved from your m2r8 installation.

Molly Patches

These are bug fixes or minor improvements. These are not complete releases, but portions to be released in the current version of Molly.

This is an updated version of the forms module. It fixes a response page path bug that ocurred if you had a <maml:form> in an index page. This patch is recommended for all Molly sites using versions m2r6 and higher.

These are extras and/or examples you can download and add to your Molly installation if you like.

This is an auxilliary module to implement an online forums system. Originally developed for Rachacha.com, this version has been re-engineered as an up-to-date module compatible with current versions of Molly. This patched release fixes a path bug in reply links.

This is a very simple multi-user blog application built entirely in MAML tags in just a few hours. Just drop it into your "local" directory in your Molly installation and adjust the page layout/menus as you see fit.
